Chrysler Repair: cirrus no start, crank pulley, pulley bolt

Question
QUESTION: hi. roland names joe asked u a question a month ago on cirrus no spark .ok cam shaft signal wire 5-0.3 volts is there only 0.3 volts at signal wire when turning crank .possible bad crank sensor? also are the ground wires supposed to have voltage

ANSWER: Hi Joe,
The crank signal is supposed to be the same oscillating 5-0.3 measured between the gray/black and black/light blue (pins 32 and 43 at the pcm), but not the same pulse rate per revolution as for the cam sensor. So if you don't see that pulsing when you turn the engine by hand, then the crank sensor is bad. The signal ground wire could have a different voltage than the battery/chassis ground but not very significantly different would I believe.

QUESTION: HI ROLAND RPLACED CRANK SENSOR . STILL WONT START HAVE 4.9 VOLTS WITH NEW SENSOR .BUT WHEN START CRANKING VOLTAGE GOES AWAY 0.0 OR 0.3V COMES BACK IF I LOOSEN SENSOR

ANSWER: You can't see the pulsing if you are using the starter motor. You have to turn the crankshaft by a ratchet on the crank pulley bolt.

QUESTION: is this the same for the camsensor also

Answer
The cam sensor pulses fewer times per revolution so it may not be so critical that you not turn it over by hand, but the pulsing from the many slots on the crank sensor is more rapid. In general, when testing either sensor for function it is recommended that the engine be turned slowly, by hand, to test for the pulsing. Do you still not have any spark? Did you checked the rotor? Checked for spark at the spark tower inside the distributor?
