Chrysler Repair: autormatic transmission: wont shift out of park, dodge grand caravan, manual override

Question
Is there any way to move the automatic transmission on a 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan from park to neutral when the key will not turn the ignition switch?  The van is sitting in our drive way and I'd like to push it back to get another car out of the garage.

Is there some manual override that when activiated allows the transmission lever to go from park to neutral?  Thanks.

Hi Brian,
If you are parked on an incline in your driveway, then have a helper push on the vehicle, in the direction against gravity, to release the tension on the parking brake pawl, while you try to move the shifter out of park. That slope is probably looking up the park position which is why you can't move the shifter.
