Chrysler Repair: 1995 Chrysler concorde: radio failing, thump thump thump, 1995 chrysler concorde

I turn on the radio and about 3 sec's later it will go off but make a low thump-thump-thump.. in the speakers. If you turn it off and back on it will play for another 3 sec's. when it shuts off the antenna stays up. I don't think the head unit is loosing power, just nothing getting or staying at the speakers. Thank you

Hi Larry,
That appears to be in internal problem with the radio amplifier which is only repairable by removing it and opening it up. This is particularly the case if it does the same thing when you try to play tapes, etc. Probably one of the electrolytic capacitors is failing. You could look them over on the circuit board to see if you find any of them show leakage on the board.
