Chrysler Repair: 07 dodge durango, parking brake cable, manual roland

Question
Hi Roland,
Is there a trick to releasing the pressure from the E brake when removing rear rotors on an '07 Dodge Durango?  I'm having a very tough time.  I did get the rotor to move almost all the way off but got nervous that I may not get the new one on if I could not back off the E-brakes a little.  Any tips would be appreciated.  Have a great Thanksgiving.

Answer
Hi Rod,
It appears that the shoes are adjustable by means of the star wheel, so that if you have difficulty putting them back on you can rotate the star wheel from its present setting to gain some access. Count the number of clicks and then return to the original position after the rotor is on. The entire parking brake cable system is evidentally self-adjusting but the shoes have to be set so that they are just short of dragging. This is based upon what I read in the '06 manual.
