Chrysler Repair: Throttle Position Sensor Replacement, throttle position sensor, 4 digit numbers

Question
My 1998 Plymouth Breeze is idling high. The RPM's go really high when I am cramming on the brakes. When I am sitting at a stop light the car wants to take off. I am guessing I need to replace the throttle position sensor. But it looks to me that the TPS is behind the throttle body, and is very difficult to reach. Am I looking at the right part? Do you know if I have to remove the throttle body to get to the TPS? THat will really make the job much more difficult.
Thanks.

Answer
Hi Mark,
The TPS is part of the throttle body itself. Tell me which engine you have. And also, do a code readout before changing anything. Try with the key:"on-off-on-off-on and leave on" then watch the odometer window to see if the mileage reading changes to show 4-digit numbers preceded by a P. Let me know if you get any. If not, get a free readout at an Autozone parts store or similar nationwide chain.
