Chrysler Repair: 2003 Turbo PT Cruiser Starter Removal, negative battery cable, automatic transaxle


Question
I have been given a half dozen different ways to remove the starter from this car, but none of the descriptions match what I see under the hood. How would you change the starter in this car?There is very little room to work in, or to remove the starter through!

Answer
REMOVAL - 2.4L TURBO
Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Remove the air cleaner box.
Pushing the inner cooler hose up and out of the way and remove the upper starter bolt (UPPER STARTER BOLT - 2.4L TURBO) and ground wire.
Raise vehicle and support
Remove the inner cooler lower hose from the inner cooler (INNER COOLER LOWER MOUNTING - 2.4L TURBO).
Remove the nuts that hold the lower inner cooler tube (INNER COOLER LOWER TUBE MOUNTING - 2.4L TURBO).
Remove the studs that hold the power steering lines (INNER COOLER LOWER TUBE MOUNTING - 2.4L TURBO).
Loosen and relocate the power steering lines (POWER STEERING LINE MOUNTING - 2.4L TURBO).
Remove the Structural Collar (Structural Collar and Bending Strut—(Automatic Transaxle Equipped) ), refer to the Engine, Structural Collar Removal and Installation section.
Unlock and disconnect the solenoid electrical connector.
Disconnect and remove the positive battery cable.
Remove the lower starter bolt.
Remove starter (STARTER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - 2.4L TURBO).
