Chrysler Repair: Chrylser LHS PCM

Question
Kevin - I was recently told that my '99 Chrysler LHS has a bad PCM after several diagnoses at the Dealer.  They are saying that it needs to be replaced to the tune of $800 for the part + the time already spent.  I now found out that apparently I can't get a used one even though the service tech told me I could due to the SKIM system and the VIN.  Is this true?  I called around and it looks like maybe I can get a used one as long as the SKIM key that it is programmed to accompanies it so it will work.  Can you give me the real story on this situation?  I'm becoming very frustrated with the dealer and the multiple stories.  Thanks
Chris Smith

Answer
if u have skim the gray key on your car  u cant swap around pcms
Once a skim code is programed into a computer it is there for life so your car has its own skim code any different one in a different computer would render your car unless when installed.
