Chrysler Repair: 01 T&C: Compass Mini-trip Computer problem, chrysler town and country, postal mail

Question
QUESTION: Time and direction are out on 2001 Chrysler Town and Country. Interior lights work. Buttons (Metric/) work. Auxiliary fuse box under steering wheel? How to access? Expensive to have mechanic repair?

ANSWER: Hi Richard,
First thing to do is a self-diagnostic test:
With ignition "off" press and hold the STEP and RESET buttons, then while holding turn the ignition to "run" and observe what appears in the display. Let me know and we'll go from there.

QUESTION: It light up! and says PASS.

Answer
Well that means that the unit doesn't see anything wrong with itself.
The compass may be out of calibration assuming it is showing the directions but in-accurately. I can email you several pages from the '04 manual* about how to do that if you will send me back a 'private' follow-up telling me your email address (the website asks for it, but it is not shared with the 'expert' who answers your question). I don't know what to suggest about the trip duration excect perhaps that the contacts inside whatever buttons you use for that might not be conducting electricity well and which might be improved if you sprayed some electrical contact cleaner on them (internally).

I have the '02 manual in hard copy which I would need to xerox and postal mail to you, but I believe these procedures are identical in the two manuals
