Chrysler Repair: Overhead Travel Info center, rear view mirror, door switches

Question
QUESTION: 95 Eagle Vision 3.5L with overhead travel center with sunglasses and garage door remote compartments.  The display is dark.  According the owner's manual the same fuse operates the door locks which are working.  I noticed a tiny whole above the step button, but I'm not sure what it does - maybe a reset(??)

Any help and/or suggestions would be much appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

ANSWER: The power door locks don't use the same fuse as the overhead console. So check fuse #14 in the box behind the left end cap of the dash.
The #14 fuse is involved with the door locks only to provide lighting to the door switches. If powers the console and part of the body computer.

QUESTION: If it makes a difference, I also have the auto dimming rear view mirror.  I'm not sure if it is stilling working properly or not.  I need to check it.

ANSWER: Yes that too is on the same fuse.

QUESTION: The auto dimming rear view mirror is working.

I tried to remove the overhead console.  There are 2 plugs.  One is for the map lights which was easily removed.  The 2nd, I cannot seem to disconnect.

What is the purpose for tiny pin hole on the overhead console?  What other diagnostic steps should I take next?

Answer
Hi Aaron,
The second plug may have a tab that needs to be lifted before it will release from the socket. There is no explanation for the pinhole in the manual.
For a diagnostic step: with the ignition off, press and hold the 'step' and c/t buttons and then turn the ignition 'on'. All the segments of the display should light. Then release the buttons and see what the display reads. Let me know that result. Then press and release the step and c/t buttons to leave the diagnostic mode.
If you can't get the plug out, then use fine pins to probe through the insultation on the 4 wires. The black/light green wire is the ground and it should show 0 ohms between is and any metal part of the chassis that is structural. The dark blue/white should show 12v compared to the chassis when the ignition is in the 'run' position.
The violet/brown and white/black wires are the digital signal wires that come from the powertrain controller under the hood. We won't worry about those unless the diagnostic test gives a "CCD" indication.
