Chrysler Repair: car want fire to start:-99 Chyrsler Sebring, voltage gauge, chyrsler sebring

Question
My battery was dead and I recharged it & drove about 30 miles.  Three blocks from home it started missing.  When I got home I parked it.  The next day it would not start or fire.  The Alarm system light is on & will not take a jump or fire.  What is your suggestion it could be?

Answer
Hi Robin,
It sounds like you have a problem with either the charging system or the battery, to begin with. So charge the battery again so you have some electrical power on board, or borrow a battery/jump.
Then try turning the ignition key:"on-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 second or less elapsed time. Then watch the odometer window to see if the mileage reading changes to show some four-digit numbers preceded by a P. Let me know if any appear. That would be a fault 'code' that directs us to what may be wrong.
You also will need to cancel the alarm so try to lock/unlock the driver and the passenger door until the alarm light goes off, using the door key or key fob to do that.
Did you notice the electrical charge warning light to be on while you last drove it or that the voltage gauge was reading low? That would focus us on the charging system as well.
Is this a Sebring sedan/coupe or is it a convertible, and do you have the 2.5L V-6 engine?
