Chrysler Repair: 96 Chrysler Cirrus Wont Start, solenoid switch, chrysler cirrus

Question
My cirrus won't start, and there is no clicking noise of it trying to start. Battery is charged, all the lights and radio will turn on with key in ignition. Just had the start motor and wires replaces about 5 or 6 months ago. Tried even to jump it thinking it was the battery, but no luck.Drove it the night before and worked fine, but would not start this morning. Do you think it could be the starter again or does the colder weather have an affect on the car?

Answer
If you did a direct jump to the battery, that would eliminate that as the cause. However, you would do well to check the battery clamps, the wires on the - post clamp (follow them to their far ends where they attact to 'ground' points), the fat red wire from +post clamp to the starter, and then try a jump to the wire that powers the solenoid switch at the starter motor (find the starter relay in the power box, rear section where it is the front left of four similar relays. Then jump to the socket pin that is furthest toward the driver side of the socket). You might want to check by jumping to the connection at the solenoid switch itself (remove brown wire and jump to pin). That is the way to check the motor circuitry. Be careful not to short a hot wire (the big red wire) to ground as that will run the risk of a burn. Even before doing all that, check to see if the relay clicks when a helper tries the key. If not, then it is either the relay, or the park/neutral switch is slightly off-center so try moving the shifter etither way off the center detent. If the relay clicks the the points inside the relay may be oxidized so try switcbing out with another relay in the box that has the same part number. Those are the possibilities. Let me know what you learn.
