Chrysler Repair: stalling upon acceleration from stop, etc., plymouth grand voyager, crankshaft position sensor

Question
My wives 97 Plymouth Grand Voyager with a 3.3 is not happy. The symptoms are occasional rough starts, ie engine rpm not wanting to come up to normal with plenty of bucking and rpm swings. Once started it will usually run smooth and accelerate with a bit of lag when the petal is pushed down slow to medium. When the accelerator is gunned it hesitates and sometimes backfires once before reving up. When in gear, it often will just die when you go to take off or it will buck a few times and then go or die.

Getting engine code 1391, even after clearing it comes back quickly. Using the on-off-on-off-on key sequence is shows a code 11. The crank position sensor was replaced a few months ago. The egr valve seems to be free from any sticking.

Any ideas where to go next?
