Chrysler Repair: Clutch clicking noise: Voyager 2004, clutch mechanism, clutch pressure plate

Question
When the clutch is not depressed I get a load clicking sound from the engine area. However when the clutch is pushed down the sound disappears.

Any thoughts as to the problem?

Answer
I suspect it may be the throw-out bearing, also called the release bearing, which should not be involved when the clutch pedal is  released. You may not have enough free play at the clutch hydraulic slave cylinder so that the bearing is being pressed upon slightly rather than being 'clear' of the tip of the solenoid. It may also be that the clutch pressure plate surface is not flat and so it comes in contact with the release bearing. I would leave it alone as I don't believe there is a simple adjustment that can cure it so you may just have to wait until the clutch mechanism fails in order to open things up for inspection/repair.
