Chrysler Repair: 01 GRAND VOYAGER ABS warning light comes on

Question
My 2001 Grand Voyager LX seems to have no problems at all, however on long trips the ABS light will come on now and then. Sometimes it goes of when the engine is turned off, sometimes not. It will go off after it sits for a while. Never seems to happen on short hops around town. Ideas?

Answer
Hi Tim,
The best way to find out is to do a code readout of the ABS which os done using a plug that attaches to the diagnostic connector located under the dash by the steering column. You would want to verify that any readout is done with a reader capable of reading the ABS codes. If an ABS code comes up, ask for the exact wording, what it means, and what are the possible fixes. Let me know of such a wording and we can look into the manuals for specific instruction.
Other than that you might try cleaning the surface of each of the 4 wheel sensors and the surface that it is in close opposition. Many warnings are caused by a build-up of dirt at the sensors.
