Chrysler Repair: 99 LHS 3.5L: Code 1297, intake air temperature, signal wire

Question
Hey Roland I just pulled a code P1297 from my vehicle. What does this mean? Where should I start

Answer
Hi Marvin,
That 1297 code says the MAP sensor is not responding to changes in its reading between off and at idle, e.g. it isn't getting a variable signal to the pcm so it likely won't work when you are driving it either. It is on the driver side of the intake manifold about the midway, and has 4 wires: violet/white, black/light blue, dark green/red, and black red. It also senses the intake air temperature but you have to replace it as a unit. The MAP signal wire is from pin D to pin 36 at the pcm if you want to check that for continuity. If that proves out, get a new sensor.
