Chrysler Repair: rough idle excess fuel consumption, side exhaust manifold, air fuel ratio

Question
2001 town and country chrysler van , showing codes 0134, 1297, 1193.  fuel economy at 8 mpgs city,m running rough and very rich. have already tried gumout on air intake  and idle throttle.

Answer
Hi Don,
These codes all refer to sensors that control the air/fuel ratio. They are respectively: the oxygen sensor on the right side exhaust manifold (firewall side) is not changing voltage, the manifold absolute air pressure sensor is not varying as it should, and the inlet air temp sensor is over voltage. The oxygen sensor is electrically independent from the other two, the other two share a common sensor ground wire. It could be the sensors are all bad, or the could be some damage to the wiring harness that affects all three. The common sensor ground dark blue/dark green on pin 43, while the signal wires for all three respectively are dark blue/light blue on 30, violet/brown on 36 and dark blue/light green on 37. So I would check out the wiring from the sensor to the pcm and if all those are continuous and not shorted to ground or to a voltage source when the ignition is 'on', I would replace them. But do look for some common damage to wiring of their harnesses or any place where they share a pathway to the pcm. The MAP sensor is the most likely causing the major reason for poor mixture, so deal with that one with a higher priority.
