Chrysler Repair: 03 Sebring alarm wont disarm, battery cables, door key

Question
the alarm will not shut off and the car will not start. someone used my car, in the morning the trunk was open and the battery dead, jumped it, shut it off and on all day, locked it when i got home, when i unlocked and put in the key, the problem started. I've had the car for 2 yrs and the alarm NEVER worked, it went off ONLY when I hit the power locks twice in a row. how can I disable the alarm?

Answer
Hi Heidi,
Try removing fuse 5 in the box behind the left end-cap of the dash. That is the fuse that runs the interior lights and the theft system among other things. Leave it out for a couple of hours, then put it back in and see if that recycles the situation.
You might also try removing the battery cables and touching the clamp for the + to the clamp for the - cable for a half a minute or so (I don't mean to reverse the clamps at the battery which will do alot of damage!). That might also do a 'reset'.
There is no easy way to defeat the system but one way to avoid it is to only use the interior push-buttons to lock the car as you leave it. Don't use the power locks, or the door key, of the remote to secure the vehicle.

PS Sorry for the delay but I just found your question in the 'pool'.
