Chrysler Repair: codes 0870, 1775, solenoid pack, psi test

Question
An emission test resulted in the following codes:

P0700 - Transmission Control System failure

P0870 - Hydro PSI Test Cell

P1775 - Solenoid SW Valve Stuck

What does this involve to correct and approx cost?

Answer
Hi Gregg,
The 0700 is a generic code that merely says there are other fault codes about the transmission.
The other codes are the ones it calls attention to. The 1775 and the 0870 both relate to malfuntions centering in the solenoid/pressure switch package which is mounted on the outside of the transmission and so it can be replaced without removing the transmission or rebuilding it, although there is no absolute certainty that such replacement will fix it because there are other possibilities. This seems to be a common approach for such codes, however.
You could shop around to find the best price for a solenoid pack for your yr/engine/model to begin. Replacing the pack is relatively easy and quick involing umscrewing a speed sensor, removing a sound cover box, removing electrical plug, remove 3 bolts that hold it in place and exhanging out the packs using a new gasket in the process. I can't tell you a specific cost but you might anticipate 1 hr of labor at most.
