Chrysler Repair: Minivan front grille/fascia under-panel, plastic fasteners, plastic grommets

Question
Black piece that secures the bumper underneath front of van has "come off".  Need to reattach bumper with this piece to underside of van.  Am i to understand there are screws as well as plastic snap in grommets.  Can you guide me through this reassembly?
Thanks

Answer
Hi Mark,
Unfortunately neither the '98 nor the '02 manuals I have show details on the attachment and in fact don't show the part that you speak of other than to say "install bolts that hold bottom of bumper fascia to radiator closure panel".
About the only 'wrinkle' you might want to be aware of is that there is a panel behind each front wheel, called a splash shield, held on with plastic fasteners which you can partially remove in case those shields are getting in the way. If these are round button-like devices as viewed when installed then you should notice a small round center of each and gently pry up the center which releses the 'ears' (hidden from view) that hold the fastener in place. That would be the only trick to deal with the 'snap in plastic grommets'. Those are re-usable but you need to lift up on the center to release the fastener or it will break if you try to pry it out. Those are probably what you are also using to attach the black piece. You might want to buy a few of those as needed because the old ones are probably gone/toast.
You might get a very good idea of what you need to do by visiting a dealer parts counter and ask them to show you that particular area of the vehicle which I believe would be in section 13 (bumper/frame) of the parts catalog which should have 'exploded' diagrams.
