Chrysler Repair: 00 Chrysler Cirrus wont start, chrysler cirrus, voltage meter

Chrysler Cirrus will sometimes start and sometimes not. Had all the belts replaced and still have the problem. Will start if you jump it, curious if its the alternator or starter? Please help...

Hi Peggy,
Does the starter motor always respond when requested, even without a jump, or is it sometimes no starter at all?
If the starter always cranks over the engine, sometimes does it not catch and idle?
How old is the battery compared to its original warranteed life?  
If it were the alternator you would notice when you are running that the voltage meter reads toward the low end of the scale and/or the battery warning light is 'on'. Do you ever notice that?
Sorry to ask more questions but I need to know more of the specifics.
