Chrysler Repair: Stock Gauge/Aftermarket Sender..., ohm resistor, stock gauge

Question
A 1987 Fifth Ave fuel gauge is (I believe) zero to seventy-three ohms...I am using an aftermarket tank which has a zero to thirty ohm sender...the gauge reads from full to half when the float is all the way down. Can I add a cap or resistor into the line to make the gauge read properly? If so, what would be the value to use?

Thanks!

Answer
Hi Keri,
Experiment with it trying a 40 ohm or thereabout resistor and see what sort of reading range you get. I recently added a 10 ohm resistor in series to my temp sender to get it back in calibration (instead of reading false high) so that is an approach that may bring to something more reasonable. It may not cover the full range from full to empty but may be acceptable to you.
