Chrysler Repair: 97 Sebring convertible, pivot bolt, negative cable

Question
QUESTION: My daughter has a leaking top cylinder in this vehicle.  It seems to be leaking where the line & piston come together.  I can't get this tightened up.  The nut just keeps turning.  Is there a trick to tighten this?  can it be tightened?  or should I replace both and if so how do you do that?
