Chrysler Repair: 2002 sebring: code 1698, question pool, fuse box

We just purchased a 2002 sebring a
had it a week then the check engine light came on. Auto parts store code reader code 1698 input output error, tcm not communicating with pcm. can I fix this?

Hi Eric,
You can test for continuity between the tcm and and pcm and the data link connector plug. The SCI transmit wire is found on pin 7 of the tcm, pin 65 of the pcm, and pin 7 of the under dash plug. The SCI receive wire is from pin 46 of the tcm to pin 9 of the under dash plug and to pin 10 of the non-gray 16-pin plug of the bcm (attached to the fuse box behind the dash). Also verify that neither of these wire is shorted to ground.
