Chrysler Repair: 1995 Caravan Hood Release Handle, dodge caravan, bolts

Question
Hi Roland, I wish to replace just hood release handle of my 1995 Dodge Caravan...the cable is available in the cabin and pops the hood when pulled.  Is there a way to buy just the handle?  Or does the cable have to be replaced with it?  From what I see it looks like it is all pre-assembled together.
Thanks, Vince

Answer
Hi Vince,
my '95 shop manual shows that the handle mechanism in the cabin can be separated from the end of the cable, so if the attachment fitting in that handle has failed it would appear to me that a new handle mechanism will solve the problem. It bolts to the side panel. You should be able to get one at a pull-it-yourself wrecker for less cost than at a dealer. By '98 model year the design and attachment had changed a bit, but still was a separate replaceable part, so I would not go too far beyond '95 in the search for a replacement. The '93 model looks identical to your '95 so any vehicle from '93-95 should be a valid 'donor'.
