Chrysler Repair: 300m p0700, p1781 fault codes, 15 miles/gal, solenoid pack, transmission control module

Question
anything simple to fix????

Answer
Hi Scott,
That code says the pressure switch circuit that monitors the pressure in the Overdrive clutch cirucit is not working as it is expected to be when you have selected OD. It could be a mis-adjustment of the shift lever compared to the shift rod position at the transmission in the simplest possibility, the pressure switch sence ciruit wiring could be open or shorted in between the solenoid pack on the transmission and the transmission control module, which is checked via a volt-ohm meter, the solenoid pack itself could be bad as regards the pressure switch, the valve body bolts could be loose (drop pan to check for that) collecting the trans fluid for reuse, the internal filter of the transmission could be clogged (that could be changed while checking the valve body bolts, or finally the transmission control module could be defective. So at worst it would involve replacing the solenoid pack or the TCM. The reduced mileage may be related to the trans being stuck in limp mode (2nd gear only will run) or the inability to use the OD gear (top gear would then be 3).
It doesn't sound like any major rebuilding would be called for.
