Question
only goes in 1 no other gear works if i jack the front of the car up the tires will spin as u are going thought the gears but you can stop the spinning by garbing the tire excepted in 1st

Running in 1 gear only (actually 2nd gear) is called limp-in mode and it is programmed into the transmission when there is some sort of fault that would cause further damage if left uncorrected. You can find out what might be wrong by getting a fault code readout via the underdash diagnostic readout socket where a 4-digit fault code number would tell you the possible causes. You can get a free readout at most Autozone parts stores, or for under $40 at most indepenedent garages. Let me know the number and we can go from there.
The only other possibility is that the fuse or relay that it powers, which powers the transmission control system is blown. Check fuse #3 in the power distribution center under the hood, and if that is OK try switching the transmission control relay in the same box for another one with the same part number that is in the box and is not crucial to operation of the vehicle. If that doesn't help, then get the fault code readout.
