Chrysler Repair: 2002 T&C flaky function of windows, wipers, blowers, body control module, proper signal

Question
When engine is running the windows, wipers and fans do not operate. When key is set at accessory mode they work.  I disconnected the battery over night and the next morning reconnected it and all worked.  The next morning it went back to the same problem.  With motor on the lights, doors work but not the wipers, fans or windows.

Answer
Hi Charles,
The non-function of those items in the 'run' position suggests to me that there is dirty contact in your ignition switch, because they operate in the 'accessory' position of the switch. The body control module gets the 'ok' to power them up from the ignition switch in the two switch positions so one must not be making contact (or possibly a resistor in the switch proper has failed so it doesn't get the proper signal to the body control module). My suggestion would be to spray the interior of the ignition switch with electrical contact cleaner from a spray can, using the straw applicator inserted into any cracks/access ports you can find on the switch body. Just remove the lower shroud on the column (after first removing the large under dash shroud held in by screws, and disconnecting the parking brake release cable from the handle to allow the shroud to drop down far enough to let you then remove the shroud that is under the column)to get to the switch. If spraying doesn't fix it, then consider a new ignition switch.
