Chrysler Repair: dash and heater lights not working: 99 minivan, voyager 3, headlamp switch

Question
Hi Kevin a have a 99 grand voyager 3.3l v6,my lighter was not working so i got another one which i replaced with no luck!, anyway after replacing the lighter i now have no lights on dash or around the heater dials but everything else works. Checked all fuses and all are fine!!! Can u help please as my wife now refuses to drive at night now!!!lol

Answer
Hi Dwayne,
The lighter socket gets it s power from fuse 8 in the box under the hood (20 amp) so check that one. The lights for the dash/heater get their power from the body computer but are also controlled by the headlamp switch knob via rotating its knob. It may be that you have it the dash lights in the 'off' position so try rotating the knob. If not then you would want to verify that fuses 1,2,3,6 under the dash, and fuses 19,22,28 in the box under the hood are all good and conducting or have a subtle crack in their internal wires. Those power the body computer that mediates between the knob on the headlamp switch and the dash lights, so that too has to be powered.

PS Sorry for the long delay as my computer failed a couple of weeks ago.
