Chrysler Repair: 99 Intrepid manual-type heater controls dont work, check fuse, chrysler dodge

Question
HI

The knob for turning the air to blow in different directions and the temperature control stopped working. So did the AC button and the rear windows defroster at the same time, right after I installed a new battery on a '99 Chrysler/dodge intrepid with manual-type heater controls. I checked the fuses, they are all OK, and I thing it gets power, cause its trying to do something when i turn the distribution control, but its only blowing cold air. I recently also replaced the resistor. The only thing that still works fine is the speed control. Is there a way to read out the heater control memory on that model, or is it something else, maybe a module??? Please help ...

Answer
Hi Alex,
Check fuse #17 in the box behind the cap on the left-hand end of the dash (10 amp) to be sure it conducts. There is method for fault code readout of the control unit, but nothing will occur unless you have power to the control unit, which is appears is not present. Those codes pertain to individual malfunctions of separate parts of the AC system, not to its total failure. So the power to the control is what I would suspect is the problem. I assume the you turn signals are working, correct? If not then check fuse J in the power box under the hood (40 amp).
