Chrysler Repair: 98 concorde:blower motor stopped, blower motor resistor, automatic temperature control

Question
fan blower motor ran on full speed, then stopped running at all,
can you help me with this?

Answer
Hi Hulan,
If the first problem was that the blower would not run on any speed other than high, that would indicate a failure of a part called either the blower motor resistor block (if you have the conventional control panel) or the blower motor power module (it you have the digital automatic temperature control panel). So you would want to get one or the other of those parts. Replace that by getting to the underside of the underdash air handling box (remove the lower edge of the dash on the passenger side for better access to the area) where on the right hand end you will find the round blower motor housing and the power twisted pair wires. Those wires will lead you to the block/module which is mounted in one of the air ducts of the box by two screws. Remove the plugs and the screws and the old block/module will come out of the duct. Put the new one in and that will fix that problem. Then see if the blower works again. If not, then check the fuse 23 in the fuse panel hidden behind the cap on the end of the dash on the drivers side (open the door to remove the cap) to see if that 30 amp fuse might be blown or have a subtle crack in its wire. If the fuse is good, and you replaced the block/module and you still get no blower action then I would remove the twisted wire plug from it and jump 12V directly to the blower motor to see if it is good or not. It can be replaced by removing the screws on the bottom of the housing and dropping it out.
But start with a new block/module because the high speed only symptom definitely is associated with a failure at that point.

PS: I don't have a suggestion for where to buy on-line other than perhaps Autozone.com which is a company with many retail outlets as well. If you are in the US I believe that most autoparts store can provide it.
