American Motors: 1965 rambler 770 , 327 engine, fuel pumps, crankcase

Question
gas in the oil pan am i still looking at fuel pump problems or should i look elsewhere    can i take the fuel pump out an check it someway

Answer
Bruce,
Most older fuel pumps have a hole near the diaphragm in the housing. This allows fuel to leak out instead of into the crankcase. Inspect the pump and if you see the area around the hole is wet, replace it.
I would check your carburetor float level and determine if your running too rich. Is the vehicle hard to start? Floods easily? Stalls or runs rough?
