Question
Kevin,

Please see the last portions of our ongoing coorrespondence regarding my 1999 300m.  i had responded to your last questions but was informed that I had asked too many followup questions.  Hopefully you will be able to continue helping me with this problem.

Thanks,

Mike

Answer:  that tan wire is the ground for the coil  each one has its own wire to the pcm with no connectors or splices to the pcm  so the pcm is not sending out ground. Were there any codes b4 u undid a battery or pcm connector?

Kevin,

No there were no codes when I checked.  I have since checked the power to the fuel injectors as well.  I am getting power at the green wire for a second when the key is in the run position and constant powere when cranking the engine but nothing from the tan wire in either case.

Answer
Hi Mike,
I am coming 'in' on this problem late because I just found the question in the 'pool' to which it had been referred by Kevin (which means to me for consideration). It appears that the engine rotation sensors are good as evidenced by the power to the coils and fuel injectors. The issue appears to be a lack of spark and perhaps a lack of pulsing of the injectors? In the absence of codes of any kind (using the ignition key or a code reader?) it would make me suspicious of a pcm failure. I am not certain however what sort or meter you are using to look for pulsing on the tan wires, and also, are you sure that the spark plugs that you tested for spark had their threaded shells firmly grounded to the cylinder which would be necessary for their to be spark? Usually there would be some sort of a code like 0600 or 0601 for an internal problem with the pcm. And the fact that it is energizing the ASD relay shows that it hasn't failed entirely. So that is as much as I can offer to you but feel free to fill me in on the history and where things stand.
