Chrysler Repair: voyager 04 2.8 diesel lx: trans code 0732, torque convertor, torque converter

Question
QUESTION: i have just fitted recon gearbox.after start up and selected drive no response.its the same in all modes of selection. that was friday , to day on starting the car it shows an engine management light generic code po732 [second gear ratio incorrect].can you offer any advice on next step? many thanks liam.

ANSWER: Hi Liam,
I wonder about whether you might not have added sufficient fluid to get it to the 'full' line. Only use ATF +4 type fluid. Unless we can get something more specific from an additional trouble code the focus might be on the solenoid assembly. What does the person/company that did the recon say?

QUESTION: i have used atf-G, fluid is at the full line.when i fitted the gearbox and torque convertor ,before i took the car off the lift i started it and selected the gears it drove both forward and reverse . next day i fitted wheels and sump guard dropped the car off the lift ,started up and would not engage drive or any gear.in the dash gear indicator selection panel lights up but does not show which mode gearbox is in.also their is no power in the eight pin plug at gearbox, their is continuity between yellow/red wire at this plug and plug at gearbox controll module under left front wing. Many thanks for your previous reply any further advice would be greatly appreciated.  Liam.

Answer
Hi Liam,
I am unfamiliar with "atf-G" but if it is not eqivalent to ATF+4 or is not listed in your owners manual as an acceptable fluid then I would not use it in the transmission. It would have to be completely flushed from the system, not just drained and refilled because only half of the fluid is removed by simply draining the transmission. The fluid in the torque converter and the cooling lines and cooler core would otherwise remain.
I am limited currently to an '02 manual but I believe that its wiring for the trans is applicable to your '04. There should be power on a yellow/orange at pin 4 of the 8-pin plug when you have the engine running at start up. That comes from the transmission control relay in the power box under the hood and that relay draws upon fuse #15 (20amp) in that box. The relay when not activated results in 'limp in' mode which means it will only drive in reverse or 2nd gear. But it should nonetheless move the vehicle. So I am at a loss as to why it will not move the vehicle at all when it seemed to do that the day before. But check the fuse and see if you have power from it on pin 4 or not. That provides power to all the solenoids and pressure switches.
I am having difficulty with a virus in my computer so I may not be available for a follow-up question but I will try to be.
