Chrysler Repair: 97t&c no start (no spark), 4 digit numbers, noid light

Question
QUESTION: i am working on a 97 chrysler town & country that will not run (start). it is a friend of mine and they diagnosed as a bad fuel pump. i put in the pump for them and it does not start. i checked for fuel and spark. it has fuel but has no spark. i tried a new coil pack and still no spark. recently replace cam and crank sensors. still not starting. do not know what else to check please point me in a direction im thinking possible pcm.

ANSWER: Hi Luther,
When you say that you "have fuel" I assume that you mean fuel pump action. But how about injectors? Do they click? And if not, both the injectors and the spark pack need the 12V output of the ASD relay, and that has to have a good fuse #12 (or perhaps #17 which was assigned that function on the '98 model year) in the power box under the hood. So check both those fuses for either being blown or having a subtle crack which is the same as a frank blow out. If that is ok, then check whether you have 12V on the dark green/orange wire at the coil pack plug when you are cranking it over as that will prove that the senors are working to cause the ASD relay to close.
If all that checks out, then try for fault codes using the ignition key:"on-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch the odometer window to see if mileage changes to show and 4-digit numbers, or watch the check engine light to begin to flash, pause, flash, etc. in which case count the number of flashes before each pause; then repeat the process to be sure of an accurate flash  count set. Tell me the results and we'll go from there.

QUESTION: hello roland
i have a noid light set and i have an injector pulse and i have 10 volts on the wire at the coil pack(may be low due to only have 12.2 volts at battery, charging now) the fuses check good even pulled out and checked continuity. as for codes it flashed a 1-2 and 5-5. thanks in advance for all your help .

Answer
Hi Luther,
That 10V seems low for any quality of spark but of course while cranking that may be the net output of the battery. So if you hear the fuel pump run for about a second when you turn the key to run it will also be running when you crank, you have injector pulsing, and the only thing missing is spark (but that could be due to a weak voltage with the low battery charge state. You don't have any sensor codes, just a 12 that says the battery was disconnected in the recent past, and 55 which means end of readout. So look again for spark after you have a good state of charge. If you get spark, and it still won't start then think 'mixture', starting with the egr valve to be sure that its stem isn't stuck slightly ajar. If so squirt some WD-40 on it and work it some to get it to close by spring-action.
