Chrysler Repair: 97 Concorde HVAC calibration, 1997 chrysler concorde, chrysler concorde

Question
Roland, I've come across instructions for calibrating the HVAC system in minivans, but I have a 1997 Chrysler Concorde with ATC.  Could you please tell me how to perform the calibration?

Answer
The race for "expert of the month" is going down to the wire.
Chrysler "repairer" vs Microsoft "coder".

Hi Jared,
The HVAC "computer" is a part of that control panel in the dash. The unit does have a self-diagnostic capability, but I don't believe it self-calibrates. The engine has to be running and the car not in motion to do the test. Simultaneously press the floor, mix, and defrost buttons, (lower/upper/upper on the 4th,5th and 6th buttons if yours is like the '98 model or 1st/2nd/4th of the upper row if yours is like the '94) and see if the display unit begins to blink. Release the buttons when it has started to do that and then after it blinks for a while longer watch for two digit numbers to appear on the readout. Those are the fault codes. If the first number appears and stays in place, push on the panel (either upper 4th button/first button in the bottom row, depending upon model) to continue the readout. At the end of the readout the unit will return to normal settings.
Then write back with the number(s) and also tell me more about exactly what is wrong with the function of the unit.*
I don't have the '97 manual but rather the '94 and '98, so please tell me which you have if you write back (6 bi-level buttons/8 buttons, 4 and 4).
Roland

PS: May I ask a favor of you? I would appreciate your rating my answer by clicking on the "Thank/rate expert" button below/left. Please notice the question just below the ratings which asks if you would like to nominate me to be 'volunteer of the month'? That recognition is based on the number of 'Yes's I get from questioners like you, one 'Yes' per each answer being allowed. Thank you in advance for your giving me a 'Yes' because I am close behind the leader so every nomination will really help.

*The code numbers range from 23-36 or 23-51 if you have the later model. You can also get a decoder list at www.allpar.com/fix/codes_climate.html
