Chrysler Repair: 2001 minivan: fault code readout, 4 digit numbers, engine computer

Question
Roland hi. I live in Central America - only one Chrysler shop in the country and they are not very up to speed. My engine light just came on. No computer diagnostic here to hook up to. Are there particular causes I could try to find and remedy?

Answer
Hi Joquin,
Yes, the check engine light alerts you to a problem the engine computer has noticed and given a code number for it.  The ignition key can be used to get any 'fault codes' that would explain why the check engine light came 'on'. Turn the key:"on-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch the odometer window to see the mileage reading change to show some 4-digit numbers that are the fault codes, with a P in front of each. Let me know the numbers and we can go from there to solve the problem. You can also a reaout using a code reader that plugs into a socket under the dash by the steering column but the key will do just as well. Tell me the codes and also which size engine is in the minivan
I hope to help you solve the problem.
Roland
