Chrysler Repair: 99 2.5 V-6 stalls when cold, egr solenoid, chrysler cirrus

Question
Hello I have a 99 chrysler cirrus stalls when cold It has a egr solenoid code. I have sealed egr to intake and it still stalls. once it warms up it runs fine. It seems to start better if I cycle ignition 2 or 3 times before cranking. I have also replaced idle control motor and crank sensor. still no results it still stalls Any ideas Rene

Answer
Hi Rene,
I am not sure what you mean by 'sealed egr to intake', so please explain. One of the most common problems is that the valve is gummed up by exhaust crud and doesn't close tightly when it has to, such at idle and slowing to a stop. So if it is functional still I would put some WD-40 on the valve stem where it enters the valve body and work it back and forth with the tip of a screwdriver inserted in the slot on stem. The stem should close to a dead stop by means of the internal spring-action. If not, then it probably needs to be cleaned out.
It could be the coolant temp sensor or the air intake sensor is off-value. Have you checked the fault codes? "On-off-on-off-on and leave on" the ignition key, doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch the odometer window to see if the mileage changes to show instead 4-digit numbers, which would be the fault codes. Let me know what you find and we'll go from the codes.
Another maintenance item that would possibly help would be to clean the throat, both sides of the butterfly plate and the side idle air passageway at the throttle body. That havinr crud can also mess up the idle function.
