my rear lift gate won't unlock or open either with the key or with the power lock. how can i manually open the rear lift gate?

Hi Chuck,
Probably you will need to remove the latch mechanism from the inside. You do that by removing the trim panel to give you access, then remove the link from the outside handle that is clipped to the latch, disconnect any electrical wires, and then unscrew the latch mechanicm from the liftgate.
The trim panel is removed by several steps:Remove upper frame moulding above the window, and the side window mouldings, remove screw holding lift handle to panel, , remove courtesy lamp be gently prying out, disconnect wire, remove cover on stop light and fasteners that hold it to panel,and gently pry around the edge of the panel to release hidden clips holding it to panel, and remove panel. This will give you access to the mechanism which when remove will allow the liftgate to open and you can figure out why it is jammed.
