Chrysler Repair: PT Cruiser 03 intermittant starting, solenoid starter, solenoid switch

Question
I have cleaned all terminals from battery to starter. New starter, battery and start relay. Sometimes on start it just clicks once. I have to jump a wire from battery to starter when someone else turns ignition to start. This sometimes fixes it for weeks sometimes just one start.

Answer
I am competing to be 'expert of the month' and need your vote of confidence.
The race for "expert of the month" is going down to the wire.
Chrysler "repairer" vs. Microsoft "coder".

Hi Tom,
I am puzzled by to where you are jumping the wire from the battery , and what are the various no starter responses you experience. The bottom lines are does the relay itself always click when you try the starter, and if so does the solenoid switch on the starter always click? It could be the brown wire from the starter relay (outboard rear pin in socket) to the starter solenoid that is the problem. You should be able to jump from the front inboard pin to the outboard rear pin of the socket and get reliable starter solenoid/starter response. So please let me know when you don't get starter action are you getting relay action, solenoid action, or neither.
