Chrysler Repair: Neutral safety switch: 42LE Transmission, neutral safety switch, chrysler concord

Question
Where is the neutral safety switch located on a 1995 Chrysler concord 3.3 liter. I bought a part but does not look like the anything that would go on the tranny. either i got the wrong part or im looking in the wrong spot. If u could help me that would be great thanks. Jason

Answer
Hi Jason,
The manual valve lever position sensor switch is located inside the transmission on the valve body proper, directly adjacent to the vertical shift rod. The socket for the switch actually protrudes through the transmission housing where it connectect to a 10-pin plug. But you do have to drop the oil pan and remove the valve body which carries along with it the switch. If you look on the left side you will see the harness and plug that go into the socket of the internal switch.
Let me know if you want to do this yourself as there are a couple of pitfalls to be aware of before you start. Are you certain the problem is the switch and not its wiring?
