Chrysler Repair: rear window wiper/2002 town & country van, frame molding, pink wire

Question
wiper stopped working, replaced fuse, still will not working, could this be the motor or electric problem?

Answer
Hi John,
Which fuse did you replace (11?), because I believe that is the one that provides power to 'park' the arm. The running of the motor continuously needs either fuse 19 or 20 so check and see that both those are good. If those are good, then I would look at the plug-in at the motor to see whether you are getting voltage on the brown/light green wire on pin 3 (I believe that would be when you  have it set for continuous or pulsing occasional if you have it set for intermittent)*. If not, then check to see if you get that on gray/pink wire on pin 2 (which I believe may be the parking voltage source (from fuse 11 when you have it set for continuous or intermittent) If you do, then I would suspect the motor. You could jump 12V to pin 3 of the motor socket while you ground pin 1 and that should fire it up if the motor is good. If not, the try putting the 12V on pin 2 instead. If the motor seems good and so too the fuses, but you don't get power to the plug then the control switch may be the problem.
Between all those tests you should be able to find the cause. Please let me know what you learn.

PS To reach the motor you need to remove the trim panel. If you have a motorized liftgate remove the motor link where it attaches to the gate. Then remove assist handle screws. Remove the upper frame molding. Then gently pry off the trim panel, releasing the hidden clips that hold it. Then remove wire connector from lamps and remove panel.
*Alternatively to going to the motor, you can check under the dash on the driver side here you will find on the firewall(bulkhead) the body control module that has 4 large multi-pin plugs. The black/green 34-pin plug has the other end of the brown/light green wire at pin 32. So you could probe that wire with a pin to check to see of the body computer is supplying 12V to run the motor there, without having to open the trim panel.
