Chrysler Repair: check engine light: how to cancel, chrysler concord, roland


Question
i have a 97 chrysler concord and the check engine light came on because there was a misfire in the #6 cylinder. i fixed the problem and the light still wont go off.there are no other codes occurring. How do i reset the computer and will this get the engine light to go away?

Hi Gabriel,
The simple way to get the light to go out is to disconnect the battery for a minutes which cancels all the codes, except causing a 1684(battery disconnected recently) which itself won't cause the light. So that would clear all the old codes. If the light comes on again, there is probably a fresh code to check out.
