Chrysler Repair: p1739 p0700 p1684 engine light codes, dodge dealership, trans repair

Question
hello,
I am getting the above codes. my first symptom was when downshifting it would go "clunk" and i would be in second gear and could not shift up w/o turning off the engine and i guess resetting. so, it was decided to replace the shift solenoid, which was done. seemed to shift ok for about 10 miles, then on the upshift, the light came back on and it went clunk, and would not upshift out of second, and now am getting the p0700. p1739, and p1684 codes. i cannot figure out what to check. any ideas?

Answer
Hi Dan,
I looked through the archive and found one question about the 1739 code that may apply to your situation, so here is the response from a questioner who apparently resolved the issue:

"Here's an update as promised. After attempting some diagnostics, I finally broke down and took to a local trans repair shop. They didn't want to touch and sent me to the best repair guy in town. He also didn't want to touch. I had no choice and took to my local Dodge dealership. They replaced the ignition switch claiming that in RUN mode, it wasn't properly powering some modules. This made some sense since the error codes indicated that the trans controller was momentarily losing power and restarting at speed. After picking up my car from dealership, it had the same problem within about 10 miles. Ugh!

I took it back to dealership and they checked again. This time they found the Omron transmission relay running excessively hot and replaced. This repair seemed to do the trick. I've driven my car quite a few miles and no problem. Frankly, I was shocked and had become convinced that the problem was a "ghost in the wind".

Therefore, in my case, error code 1739 (power up at speed) was most probably caused by a faulty ignition switch. The switch wasn't powering the
transmission relay correctly. The relay's coil ran hot and occasionally "chattered". This resulted in the transmission to fault (i.e., bus
communication alarms and 1739 (power up at speed)).

In reviewing your suggestions, you hit it on the nose! This online service is really a great. I hope that my feedback is helpful. Thanks again!"
My inference is that the trans relay was not being activated prior to putting the car in gear, thus "power up at speed" means that it did become powered after the vehicle was moving. So it may be just an ignition switch or a trans relay that is your problem.
Please let me know what you find.
