Chrysler Repair: Town and country Vanity light not working, interior lamps, black orange

Question
Hi Roland,

I have a 2001 Town and country 3.8 FWD Mini van, It has Lighted vanity mirrors which refuse to shine. I have checked the 2 bulbs in one of them and they were OK. I bought the van with the overhead console lights not working as well due to a short in the smaller plug of this console  that had actually melted the wires where it plugs into the console , I have installed another console and replaced those wires and everything with that is now working , lights, and readouts and buttons for garage door and powered sliding doors , So , i don't' think it has anything to do with the vanity lights not working , i hope.

I could not find a fuse for the vanity lights and every other light and components is working in the van. So , do you have any ideas of 1) where is the fuse for these mirrors,. and what can be check to get them working.

If all else fails , i thought maybe i could just run a new 12 volt wire to the mirrors to get them working if that's not too risky?

Thanks for all you do .
Tom

Answer
Hi Tom,
It appears that the wires to the vanity lamps come out of and go back to nearby multi-wire splices used for other courtesy lamps. So if the dome/front and rear reading interior lamps are working I would believe that the problem is either at splice 338 which is described as "near T/O for right vanity lamp" which brings the voltage from the body computer, and return to ground splice 339 "near T/O for C312"  which is possibly near the dome lamp. I an unclear as to what a T/O is but it might be a "take off".   The incoming wire is yellow/blue, and the outgoing is black/orange coming and going from the splices I mentioned. Each light has its own wire going to the splice.  So because these lights are tied in with many others at those splices I suspect that the problem is in one or the other splice nearest to the lamps. Perhaps it is tied up with the overhead console short circuit history.
