Can I take the motor from my 96 dodge caravan and put it in my 96 Chrysler new Yorker?

I don't believe that the engines for the van (cross-wise mounted) will go well in the longitudinally mounted engine space of the LH-body car. I have not seen them ever sold that way so I doubt it.
You could check at a dealer parts department.
