Chrysler Repair: Steering Wheel mis-alligned, clock spring, chrysler corp

Question
I brought a 99 Town Country to a dealer for a clock spring recall. Clock spring was fixed BUT when I got the car back, steerig wheel is now in 11:55 position when I m driving straight. Is there a way to bring this back to 12 o'clock? What caused this problem? Dealer says they can only put steering wheel one way. They cannot make a mistake BUT I brought this car in with a straight steering wheel. (He says She Says situation.) Please help. Thanks.

Answer
Hi Arnel,
The position of the steering wheel on the steering column is entirely adjustable because a mult-slotted (knurled) fitting is mated to a similarly slotted opening in the wheel center hole. The mechanic probably misaligned it by one slot due to inattention to detail. I would go back and tell them that you want them to remove the wheel and rotate it enough so that it is straight ahead again, and if they won't then I would ask for the contact information for the regional sales/service manager of the Chrysler Corp. so you could seek his/her help. Finally you could complain to the corporate headquarters. It is not a big job so I don't see why they won't correct this. Be friendly but firm. The procedure originally outlined in the repair calls for the direction to be straight ahead before they remove the wheel and to put it back on the same way without turning anything, so as to avoid what happened to yours.
