Chrysler Repair: 1996 Chrysler Sebring: dies after 10 minutes, chrysler sebring, position sensors

Question
I am driving down the road and all of a sudden my car dies.  I dont know what my cause it but the engine cuts in and out right before it dies.  I have to wait for at least 24 hours before i can start it back up and drive it for about another ten minutes.  Any idea what may be causing this.  Thanks for the help by the way

Answer
Hi Dustin,
That sort of behavior often occurs when one of the position sensors, either the one in the distributor or the one on the rear of the engine, is beginning to breakdowm. It recovers after cooling off. But we need to know which if that is the case.
Check for fault codes using the ignition switch:"on-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch the check engine light, which remains "on", to see it begin to flash, pause, flash, etc. Count the number of flashes before each pause, then repeat the process to be sure you have an accurate set of flash counts. The last two sets are always 5 in each. Then write back telling me the counts in the order of appearance. Then we will have some idea of what to do.
