Chrysler Repair: Airbag Light On, 2000 dodge intrepid, dodge intrepid

I have a 2000 Dodge Intrepid and my Airbag Light is on.  My cruise control and horn still work what can be the problem.

It could well be that a wire that connects the airbag to the steering column is broken even though the other flexible wires to the steering wheel are OK. In fact there are two separate clockspring units for the separate functions. The one for the air bag has two wires that each has its own flex circuit so you could verify this by first removing the airbag, then gain access to the control module at the base of the center console stack. The two wires to the airbag are connected to pins 5 and 6 of the module which you can verify by ohmmeter. Let me know if you want the instructions for accessing module and the air bag for removal.
