Chrysler Repair: repair of keyless remotes, dodge dakota slt, keyless remotes

Question
I own an 2005 Dodge Dakota slt, neither of my remotes work,is there not someone who can repair these? I mean it is silly to have to pay $175 for an remote then Chrysler wants an addition $60 to program it.

Answer
Sorry Joe,
I don't. If you can get one of them to work at all, just once, you can probably use it to program a new one into the system. Here is how:
Insert key to ignition switch
Turn the key to the run position without starting the engine
Using a functional fob, press and hold the unlock button for a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 10 seconds
Before the 10 seconds has elapsed and while still holding the unlock button press the Panic button and then release both buttons at the same time. A single chime will sound indicating the module is ready to receive the new fob access code.
Within 30 seconds of the chime, press and release the lock and unlock buttons on the new fob of the new fob and then release them. Then press and release any one of the buttons on the new fob. An abbreviated chime will sound which indicates the new fob has been accepted.
To do another new fob, simply repeat beginning at: "within 30 seconds...." The programming mode will last for 30 seconds after you finish programming a fob, so if you don't do the second one soon enough go back to the start. Just turn off the key to also end the programming mode and no further fobs will be accepted unless you go back to the beginning.
Then check out whether the new fobs have been entered in the system by trying them out.
This procedure is from the '02 minivan manual, so it should apply.
Please let me know if it works.
You might look for another source for the new fob than a dealer, like eBay.
