Nissan Repair: Air bag lite, air bag, body shop

Question
Air bag light is on.  Car is not worth a lot and we would like to sell but airbag light is on.  Not sure we can afford Deal diagnosis. Can you give some things to check.

The airbag light requires a special code reader to get the information. It is $100 to get them read.  If they, a dealer or a body shop give you bad news as to what it is you might consider donating the car rather than getting into a liability situation.  If you sell the car with defective airbags someone is going to get a lawyer and go after you.  Now, if the fix is simple you could replace the airbag or sensor and reset the code and sell the car.  Your choice here.  I do not want the liability of an issue like an airbag coming after me...
